Pitbull Screeners recently received a purchase order from Bechtel Infrastructure and Power Corporation in Pecos, Texas, for nine PB148 Grizzly Rock Screens. The units were manufactured at our Lake City, Pennsylvania, facility and transported to Texas, where they are now in operation. The order is more than a shipment of equipment. It underscores the importance of durable, straightforward screening solutions that can withstand demanding applications and help crews manage material more efficiently.
Built for Hard Work and Tough Applications
The Pitbull PB148 Static Grizzly Screen is designed to remove large rocks, debris, and other oversized material before it reaches subsequent screening or processing equipment. Pre-screening large material can improve the overall material-handling process. By removing oversized debris early, operators can reduce unnecessary wear on downstream equipment, improve productivity, and keep material moving across the job site.
The PB148 is engineered specifically for these demanding environments. Its heavy-duty frame is constructed from structural steel tubing, providing the strength needed to handle everything from large rocks and gravel to demolition rubble. At 10 feet tall at its highest point, the PB148 provides a substantial screening area while maintaining a simple, static design. No engines, hydraulics, belts, or complex moving components are required to perform the initial separation process. Material is loaded onto the screen, smaller material falls through the openings, and larger debris remains above the bars. That simplicity makes PB148 a dependable addition to operations in construction, demolition, aggregate, excavation, recycling, and infrastructure.
Heavy-Duty Steel Bars
Every PB148 comes standard with 18 bars spaced four inches apart. These are not lightweight screening bars. Each bar is made from three-inch-square structural steel tubing with heavy 3/8-inch-thick walls. The bars are mounted on edge to create a self-cleaning action as material moves across the screen. This design helps minimize the risk of rocks and debris becoming lodged between the bars, reducing interruptions and helping crews maintain productivity.
Each bar is secured with two bolts. The bars can be removed, repositioned, or added in minutes, allowing operators to adjust the screen to meet the requirements of a particular material or application.
Adjustable Spacing for Greater Flexibility
Job-site conditions can change, and the material being processed is not always consistent. That is why the PB148 features adjustable bar spacing. Locating holes are spaced in one-inch increments, allowing the standard PB148 Grizzly bars to be configured with openings from 1“ to 6”. For larger openings more than 6”, customers need to order the PB148SD extreme duty model. Operators can arrange the bars to create smaller openings for finer separation or larger openings when processing bulkier material.
This flexibility allows a single PB148 Grizzly Screen to serve a variety of applications. Rather than being limited to a single fixed configuration, crews can adjust the screen to match the size, type, and volume of material being handled. A Strong, Reinforced Foundation
The PB148’s screening bars are supported by a robust, fully welded frame made from structural steel. The reinforced foundation provides the stability needed to support heavy loads and repeated use in demanding conditions.
The unit measures 94 inches deep, 168 inches long, and 120 inches high, with an operating weight of approximately 6,487 pounds. Its size and weight provide a stable platform for processing heavy material while still allowing the unit to be transported and repositioned when necessary. Strategically placed welded “D”-ring lift lugs are standard on the PB148. These lifting points make it easier to handle, load, unload, and position the Grizzly Screen using appropriate job-site equipment. That transportability was particularly important for delivering the nine units from Pitbull Screeners’ Lake City facility to their destination in Pecos, Texas.

Watching the shipment depart our Pennsylvania facility and arrive in Texas was a proud moment for the Pitbull Screeners team.
